Travel from Iceland
Flying from Iceland
Despite its small size, Iceland is home to 25 different airports. Turkish Airways offers flights from Iceland via Keflavik International Airport (KEF), the country’s largest airport, located 50 kilometers south-west of Reykjavík.
Keflavik Airport Information
Keflavik Airport was recently voted one of the best airports in the world by the Airports Council (ACI) International. It has one terminal named after Leif Ericson, an explorer who is believed to be the first European to land in North America. Keflavik Airport boasts one of the few shopping areas in Europe where duty-free products can be sold to both arriving and departing passengers. The airport offers ATMs, car rental services, currency exchange, luggage storage, as well as a variety of stores and dining options.
Getting to the Airport in Iceland
There is no public bus to Keflavik Airport; however, you can take the Flybus or the Airport Express, with a journey time of about 40 minutes from Reykjavik. Both bus services offer pick-ups from major hotels and guesthouses in Reykjavik. You can also take a taxi to Keflavik Airport, which is little faster but also more expensive than traveling by bus.
